k-Lei atelier

An inspirational place

My studio has been lovingly named k-Lei Atelier. A place were clay lovers, porcelain enthusiasts and like-minded people are welcome. It is a place where new ideas come to life, very suited to show beautiful things and objects and ideal for enjoying some quality time.

After much deliberation and looking into possible alternatives, we decided to build a brand new studio adjacent to the family house. The studio consists of two levels. The upper level is for designing, the basement is where the craftmanship takes place.

The space also reflects my work: it is filled with light and has some beautiful architectural shapes and forms, and it was constructed with as many natural materials as possible.

‘As a light filled space close to home the new pavilion merges into an existing corner of the house, slides into the natural slope, like a garden chamber in service of craftsmanship. The studio consists of two levels. The upper level is for designing. The well positioned window openings correctly orient the rooms and allow abundant light in this garden level as well as in the basement. The facade is covered in natural slates, a wink to working with natural materials.’
